My 22-year career in journalism has been as rich and varied as the subjects I’ve focused on. In 2016, I won Best Food Travel story with the Australian Society of Travel Writer’s Awards for my article on Hyderbad, India. My articles have appeared in Good Food, SMH’s Traveller, SBS Food, BBC Travel, Luxury Travel, QantasLink Spirit, Australian Traveller, Escape, The Guardian Travel, delicious. magazine, SBS Feast, Voyeur, Escape, Spa Life, Out & About with Kids, Stamford Life magazine, Out There, CNN Traveler, Going Places, Cuisine, Cruisecritic.com.au and Tiger Tales. I have also created custom content for tourism bodies such as Tourism Australia, Australian Insider, Destination NSW, Visit Queensland, Visit Canberra and write a monthly blog for Visit the Shire.
I was the chief sub editor at delicious., a production editor at The Guardian Travel (UK) section and both a writer and sub editor at The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, Conde Nast Traveller, The Sunday Times‘ Travel, SBS Feast, WHO Weekly, The Canberra Times and The Cairns Post.
Other stuff … During my career as a journalist, I have specialised in writing and editing for feature-style supplements and lifestyle magazines. I have also written film, music and book reviews and profile pieces on interesting, quirky, inspiring and often infuriating characters. As well as tackling lighter lifestyle pieces, I have written hard news stories, investigative pieces, education articles and business profiles. I’ve also worked as a copy editor, structural editor, developmental editor, project editor and proofreader on cookbooks written by leading Australian chefs and cooks such as Dan Hong, Neil Perry, Dany Chouet and Jane Lawson. I was also project editor on the Vogue Entertaining & Travel ‘mook’.
